Firstly, it is worth noting Microsoft gets a lot of things right when it comes to PC gaming on Windows 10. However, there are plenty of areas in which the platform can improve. Microsoft seems to agree and says it is working to change the Microsoft Store to give gamers a better experience. All of Microsoft’s own first-party titles are available on the Microsoft Store, while many third-party titles can also be downloaded. The problem is users often complain about problems with downloading, installation, and updates. Buggy and annoying is the general consensus amongst the PC gaming community when discussing the Microsoft Store.
Changes
Microsoft says it is listening and is already making fixes to improve the experience. The company discussed the changes at its XO18 Xbox event in Mexico City this past weekend. Xbox head Phil Spencer said a gaming-focused update is coming to the Microsoft Store. “I think we’ve got a ton of work to do on Windows” Spencer stated at XO18. “Windows is something I’m very committed to, I’ve heard the feedback about our Store. I’m going to take a bigger leadership role on what’s going on with the Windows Store, make it really tailored to the gamers that we know want to see the best from what we have to offer.”. Unfortunately, Spencer did not expand on the specifics of the changes. We hope the Store will become easier to use and the management of game content will be more efficient. It is certainly a good start that Spencer admits Microsoft has a lot of work to do to make Windows 10 a good PC gaming platform.
